Level 1 Ali and The magic Carpet
One very hot day,Ali goes to his uncle's shop.He sees a carpet on the floor.''What is this?'' He asks. His uncle's parrot perches on his shoulder and says,''It is a magic carpet .Sit on it.''
Ali sits on the carpet. '' Count from one to six,'' the parrot says. Ali is surprised. ''But why?'' he asks. ''Dont ask why? Just count from one to six , please,'' says parrot.
Ali starts to count. '' One ,two , three , four ,five , six.'' Suddenly the carpet jumbs! It moves and flies off in to the air. '' Hey! What's happening?'' asks Ali. '' Do not be afraid ,wait and listen!''says the parrot.
A loud booming voice comes from the carpet.''Welcome , O Master. I am a magic carpet. Where would you like to fly?'' '' I would like to fly to the places I haven't been before,'' says Ali.
They fly high into the sky.'' How beautiful our world is,'' says Ali.They fly over the clouds.Ali sees the mountains.It is spring but there is still snow on the top of the mountains. Ali sees a river and lots of trees.
They land in a jungle .It is hot and wet. ''Wow! There are so many trees here .They are big and tall.
Then they fly to the desert. It is very hot. The sun is shining .There is only sand and a few plants.'' Can you see the lizard down there?'' asks the parrot. ''Yes,I can .It is quite big,but I can't see any other animals.There are some cacti here'' says Ali.
After that they fly to the South Pole .There is lots of ice and snow. ''It is very cold ,'' says Ali.'' It is freezing ,'' answers the parrot. A penguin welcomes them. '' Hello! Welcome to the South Pole!'' '' Hello!'' answers Ali .Ali sees a seal .It looks surprised.
They fly high into the sky again. '' Where are we now? I can't see anything.'' ''In the mountains.Can you see me? answers a lion in the fog.''No,I can't .It is very foggy ,'' says Ali.
Then they fly to a forest .It is very windy there. A squirrel gives him a nut.''Thank you !'' says Ali. '' Is it often windy here?'' asks Ali. ''Yes , It is often windy and rainy ,'' answers the squirrel.
Then they fly to an island in the sea.There is thunder and lightning.'' What a storm!'' says the turtle.
'' Do you hear the turtle? It speaks! says the parrot.'' It speaks like me!'' '' Yes,but let's go home ,'' says Ali.
'' Okay ,O Master ,'' says the carpet.
The carpet turns around. They fly back over the mountains ,forests,deserts,rivers and sea.
They fly back to their town.They fly over the shops and houses.Ali is very happy.
Finally ,they are back home again. The carpet lands in the shop and Ali gets off.'' Wow ! What anadventure!''says Ali.

LEVEL 1 BAD RATTY
This is the Bank of Britain. It is the safest bank in the world.
This is Bad Ratty . He is the worst rat in the world. He is with his friends , Cheese and Miss Whiskers. There is something on the table. What is it? Oh, It's a blue printof the Bank of Britain. Oh , dear ! They are planning to rob the Bank of Britain.
Bad Ratty , Cheese and Miss Whiskers put on their masks and go to the Bank of Britain. '' OK, rats , we are at the Bank!'' '' Let's go!''
It is the end of the day .The cashier is counting the money . Suddenly , Bad Ratty shouts, '' Freeze! Nobody move !'' He points a magic gun at the cashier and freezes him in ice.
Everbody is very scared. They hold up their hands.They get the key to the safe from manager. They open the safe. '' OK,rats! Let'S see what is in the safe!'' ''Perhaps we will find some cheese!'' says Cheese.
'' There is no cheese , but there is a lot of money!'' '' Paper again! I don't like paper.I like cheese!'' says Cheese. '' These smell bad!'' says Miss Whiskers. '' Shut up! We won't eat it .We will buy cheese with it . You get the notes ,I ' II get the coins!'' '' OK, rats! Let's go! Run!''
The chief of the police is at the Bank of England now. He looks around carefully, but he can't find anything. Who robbed the bank? There is not a single clue. He thinks a lot and says, '' There is only one person who can help us.''
He gets the telephone and dials a number. '' Hello , Spy Cat!'' '' Hello , Jimmy . I think you are in a big trounle again.'' '' Yes,'' says Jimmy. '' Where do you want me to come ? asks Spy Cat.'' To the Bnak of Britain ,'' replies Jimmy. '' Oh , you are really in a big trouble .I am coming.
Spy Cat arrives with a magic pen. First , he points the magic pen at the cashier , and unfreezes him . '' I can move again!'' says the cashier. The cashier tells therobbery from beginning to the end.
Next , Spy cat looks for clues. '' Oh, there is something here ! What is it ?'' He finds a piece of cheese inside the safe. '' A piece of cheese ! Who eats cheese in a bank?''
Finally , Spy Cat finds a banknote. '' Now I know who robbed this bank!'' '' Who ?'' asks the casiher. '' Wait! I will find them,'' replies Spy Cat.
The rats are counting the money they stole. They look very happy. ''One hundred , two hundred,three hundred ......'' Bad Ratty can't complete his sentence.
The door opens and Spy Cat rushes in. '' Oh , no, it's Spy Cat!'' '' The fun stops here rats! You are under arrest!''
Spy Cat arrests the rats and takes them to the police station. The rats spend a year in a jail.

LEVEL 1 TREASURE ISLAND
Sanjay and Sarah are good friends. One day ,while they are walking along the coast , Sanjay sees a bottle floating in the sea. '' Look ,Sarah ! There is a bottle floating in the sea.'' '' Oh , yes. There is something inside it.'' Sanjay walks into the water. He takes the bottle out of the water.
'' What 's in the bottle?'' asks Sarah. '' We will see.'' Sanjay takes a piece of paper out of the bottle. '' What is it,'' asks Sarah. It is a map! It is a map!'' shouts Sanjay. It's a map! It's amap! Buried treasure! says the parrot. It is a map ! It is a map of a buriedtreasure!It leads you to the buried treasure!
''Wow a treasure map!'' says Sarah. ''Do you think it is a treasure map?'' asks Sanjay. Sarah replies ,'' I don't know .Let's follow the parrot!'' Sanjay wonders what he might find and shouts,''Maybe it's gold , silver....... or Jewels.''
'' OK.We are here and the treasure is there,'' says Sanjay while he points to the map. '' Let's go! I will read ! '' says the parrot.
''Walk eighty meters north!'' says the parrot.
They walk eight meters north. ''1 , 2 , 3 , .................,78 , 79 , 80 ,''
'' Turn right at the big coconut tree , and go straight on until you reach thecrocodile pond!''
'' Walk over the bridge .Turn left , and keep on walking,'' says the parrot. Sarah and Sanjay walk over the bridge.Sarah sees big crocodiles , and she screams!
''You will see a big round rock.At the rock turn right!'' instructs the parrot. They see the big round rock. ''Walk straight ahead another fifty meters,'' says the parrot.
''1 , 2 , 3 , ........... 48 , 49 , 50 ,'' They walk about fifty meters and find themselves in front of a big , dark cave. The parrots says , '' Walk through the cave , but be careful of the bats! After that ,walk straight on until you reach the sea!'' The parrot goes on reading the map. '' Go along the beach for two unded meters!''
They walk about two hundred meters and finally they reach a big square rock. The parrot looks at the map and realises that the treasure is behind the square rock! '' Look over there!''
They look behind the rock. The parrot sees the treasure chest. '' Over there! Over There , '' the parrot shouts. There is a big red treasure chest behind the rock.Sanjay opens it. '' It's empty!'' cries Sarah.
Inside there is an old note .Dear Finder, I am sorry, I took my gold. I needed to buy a new pirate ship by Captain Bedbeard.
''Well , at least it is a nice walk for us ,'' says Sanjay. '' Yes , and we have a new friend!'' says Sarah.

LEVEL 1 LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Little Red Riding Hood lives in the woods with her mother. One day Little Red Riding Hood goes to see her Granny.She takes a yummy cake with her for her Granny.She walks to her Granny's house .
One her way ,Little Red Ricing Hood meets a wolf. ''Where are you going?'' asks thewolf. '' I'm going to see my Granny. She lives in a house behind the trees. answers Little Red Riding Hood.
The wolf runs away. He runs to the Grandmother's house.He wants to get there earlier than Little Red Riding Hood.
He arrives at Granny's house and knocks on the door. '' Who is it?'' asks Granny. ''It 's me!'' replies the wolf. Granny opens the door. The wolf jumps on Granny .He eats Granny up! He sits in Granny's bed and waits for Little Red Riding Hood.
A little later ,Little Red Riding Hood arrives at the house. She looks at the wolf in Granny's bed. Granny , what a big nose you have!'' says Little Red Riding Hood. ''All the better to smell you with , my dear !''replies the wolf.

Little Red Ricing Hood screams!
A wood cutter is in the wood.He hears a scream. '' The scream is coming from the house where the old lady lives. Someone needs my help!'' says the wood cutter.
''If she is in trouble ,I must run quickly!'' He starts to run through the woods to the house.
He arrives at the house soon and sees that the door is open.He runs inside and sees a wolf in there.He hits the wolf over the head!
The wolf opens his mouth wide and shouts.Suddenly , Granny jumps out of the wolf's tummy!
The wolf runs away and never comes back.

LEVEL 1 THE LANTERN
A young prince lives with his father, the Caliph,in a large palace.The young prince is very unhappy because his mother died. After a few years , the Caliph marriesagain.The prince's step mother is very unkind. The Caliph doesn't care much about the prince , which makes him unhappy.
On the 15th day of the month of Sha'aban , the son says to his pet pigeon,''Let's not stay here anymore ,Let's run away because nobody here cares about us .'' So they both run away into the jungle.
The prince walks for a long while .Finally , he reaches a grand palace which belongs to a ghoul.The prince is tired and says to the pet pigeon ,''This is the ghoul's palace .We should'nt stay here , but we are so cold ,hungry and tired .We need a rest for a while. He might be asleep ,Lets sneak in and rest till the morning.''
But the ghoul isn't asleep. He watches the prince walk into the palace. The prince looks around and sees a bed. He sleeps in the bed for the night.
The morning comes and the prince wakes up .He is surrounded by golden bars. He is trapped and scared . He wishes he never left his home.
The ghoul says,''I know all about your evil step mother . Your father doesnt love you. I am lonely , so I ' ll keep you here as my pet.'' The little prince pleads with the ghoul to set him free .The ghoul growls at the prince ,'' I will send your pigeon home with a message .If the Caliph loves and you and misses you , he will follow the pigeon back here and save you .If not ,You will stay here for the rest of your life''
The pigeon flies with the message to the Caliph 's palace.
After his son runs away ,the Caliph cries and prays every night . He wishes he saw him before the holy month of Ramadan. On the last night of Sha'aban ,he feels that his son is close. He opens the window and finds the pigeon sitting on the ledge. He knows that he has to follow the pigeon , but it is really dark.
The Caliph's sister ,a princess ,has an idea .She asks local people to help the Caliph.She asks people to carry a lantern and walk with him to find the prince.News travels quickly. Soon every man ,woman and child carries a lantern and helps the Caliph.
On their way , the children sing songs to celebrate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. The prince hears the songs and sees the light from his prisonwindow. He knows it is his father.
The ghoul is surprised that the Caliph comes for the prince .The ghoul feels sad.He says , ''I was wrong .Your father loves you . You are free to live.''
The young prince hugs his father. They return to their home and fast together to celebrate the first day of Ramadan.
The Caliph is so happy .First , he rewards the local people with gold lanterns to hang outside their houses to remember the event.Then , he orders his minizters to light the streets and mosques with colourful lanterns to add joy to the area .
Since that day , young children buy colourful lanterns to celebrate the first day of Ramadan.

LEVEL 1 THE FIRST MARATHON
It is the year 490B.C. There is a war between the Persians and the Athenians.
Persia is a huge empire , much bigger than Greece. Persia wants to conquer Athens. They reach the Greek territory with a great force in big ships. They land the Greek territory of Marathon.
The Athenian soldiers wait on the top of a hill while the Persian army waits on the plain of Marathon.There are 48,000 Persian soldiers , and only 10,000 Athenian soldiers.
Athens and Sparta are neighbouring states. Spartans are good fighters. The Athenians send a messenger , Pheidippides , to Sparta to get help. He runs for hours over the mountains to ask the Spartans for their help.
But the Spartans say they won't fight until there is a full moon.
Pheidippides returns to Marathon alone.
The Athenians can not wait any longer. They decide to attack the persian army. The Athenians run towards the persian army. The Persians do not expect such asudden attack. Persian arrows shoot through the air , but they can not stop the Athenians.
The Athenians win. 6400 Persians are killed , but only 192 Athenians die, It is a great victory for the Athenians.
The Persians run to their ships and try to escape. They try to go to Athens before the Athenians army.
They want to capture the athenian women ,children and people waiting there.
The Athenians realize the Persians bad plan. They must warn the people in Athens. Pheidippides now has another job. He runs forth kilometres to Athens , to tell the Athenians that they have won the war , and to tell them that the Persians are coming.
Pheidippides runs nonstop. He arrives at the city gates very tired. '' Rejoice, we are victorious!'' he shouts. Then he dies.
From this great event comes the Marathon race of the Olympics .The olympic Games of modern times begin in 1896. Greek runner , Spiridon lousi , wins the first Marathon race.
And like Pheidippides a long time before , he also carries messages. He is a young postman.

LEVEL 1 THE HAUNTED HOUSE
It is a dark , dark night. The weather is very bad. It's raining .The thunder goes '' Bang! Bang! Bang!. The lightning lights the dark night.
Tom and Suzy are with their dog,Bob. They are scared because of the thunder and lightning .They try to find their way home.The thunder bangs loudly. Bob isfrightened .
Bob runs through the woods as fast as he can.He runs until he comes to a house.
Tom and Suzy run after Bob. They cannot see Bob. They see a weak light far away. They decide to follow the light. It is a house , a haunted house.
They walk into the hall. '' Bob!'' '' Bob!'' They shout his name , but hear nothing at all.
They decide to look around the house.First , they start in the kitchen. There are lots of pots ,pans and plates in the kitchen.
There is a big snake in the kitchen. The snake shows its fangs at Tom and Suzy. Suzy doesn't like snakes. She screams in fear and says,'' Help! I am scared!''
They run out of the kitchen and into the bathroom. Do you know what they see? An octobus with eight long legs in the bath. Tom says , '' I am so happy that he hasn't got more legs!''
They look in the study and see something strange on the floor. They walk towardsit .It is a hard shell, but what is inside in it?
A turtle!Well , well! It is an old turtle. Perhaps he's two hundred years old. Perhaps older than that. They can't find Bob there. '' Bob!'' '' Bob ! Where are you ! '' There is no reply.
They look in the lab. There is a big , black cat on the shelf.It looks angry. Over there on the floor is horrible rat.
They look around for hours. They can't find Bob in the house. Then ,they decide to go home. They should tell Mum and Dad that they cannot find Bob. It is nearly the morning. '' I miss Bob,'' says Suzy. '' Me too,'' says Tom.
